Building a Community
Commissioned by Old Mutual, this quilt is one of three that hang in the reception area of their head offices in Sandton. In the quilt the Pomegranate quilters depict their own village of Nieu Bethesda, not as the township actually is, without shop, recreation facilities, or green spaces, but as they would wish it to be. The clinic has a doctor, and is open all the time. There is a shop brimming with fresh fruit and vegetables, and in the playground the children play.
