We take care of each other
One of two quilts commissioned by South African Breweries in 2008 based on their slogan, “inspired by a nation”. The Pomegranate group thought of those things in Nieu Bethesda which are inspiring for South Africa. This quilt shows the way parents sometimes care for their children – by giving them food, schooling, help when they are ill, and play when they are well. In the centre of the piece is a mother who has fostered a child, not her own, who has lost his parents. It is this group responsibility for orphaned or abandoned children that we found inspiring in our community.
